- Deadlines and notice periods: how many working days you have before something is due.
- Billing and rent: the exact number of days for a pro rata charge.
- Travel: the length of a trip, or how many days are left on a visa.
- Milestones: how many days you have been in a job, a relationship or a streak.
Example
From 1 March 2026 to 1 June 2026 is 92 days, which is 13 weeks and 1 day, or 3 months exactly. Of those, 65 are weekdays and 27 are weekend days. If you include the end date, it becomes 93 days.
Calendar months are not all the same length
Months have 28 to 31 days, so "3 months" can mean anything from 89 to 92 days. The years, months and days line counts real calendar months, while the "Months (approx.)" figure divides by the average month length of 30.44 days. For contracts and legal deadlines, always check which method is meant.
